Dirinaria purepurescens thallus.

As a genus Dirinarias possess K+ yellow thalli and a black lower surface without rhizines, the hairlike projections that attach some lichens to their substrate. D. purpurescens with its purple pruinose apothecial discs can be reliably identified visually at maturity. However, post mature discs begin to turn blackish. At this stage it can be confused with other Dirinaria species.
