Leptogium isidiosellum thallus.

Apothecia are rarely produced by this lichen. Instead it normally resorts to a method of asexual vegetative reproduction by producing isidia. Isidia are tiny outgrowths of the thallus and may be leafy, cylindrical, spherical or even branched. These outgrowths are very fragile and can easily be separated from the mother lichen. When separated a new L. isidiosellum can result.
