Byssoloma pubescens thallus.

This lichen is now considered to be a synonym of Byssoloma meadii but some may wish to recognize it as a separate species. There are some morphological and chemical differences. In B. pubescens the cottony margin of the apothecia (a trait common to several members of the genus) is barely perceptible. The discs are slightly browner on average than B. meadii but the green granular thallus is very similar. However, the thallus of this species becomes orange under ultraviolet light while B. meadii does not.
