Graphina subvirginalis

|
The thallus of this species is smooth and somewhat gelatinous. The lirellae are reddish-brown, quite open, flexuous and frequently branched. A drop of potassium hydroxide on the thallus surface produces a red spot due to the presence of norstictic acid. At one time this was named G. subvirginalis var. fulvescens. However, currently the North American checklist recognizes no varieties. |
