Lichen Index

Spores of G. cicatricosa start out hyaline but become slightly brownish as they mature. At least one authority describes the spores as muriform (that is, both horizontally and vertically septate). However, all of the material from South Florida investigated to date have been found to have simply transversally septate spores like the one to the left. The number of cells average 9-11 extracted from most thin sections although it can vary from 6 to 12.
